República wins 2014 APPY award in national competition

MIAMI, MAY 29, 2014 — República, one of America’s fastest-growing, cross-cultural advertising, communications and digital agencies, announced today that it won a 2014 Appy Award in the best Mapping/Navigation category for the Miami Trolley app. The fourth annual Appy Awards ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Times Square in New York City.

The Appy Awards, part of Internet Week New York, are among the most distinguished national awards in the app development industry. Winners are selected by a jury of leading tech executives who filter through hundreds of thousands of eligible apps before announcing the winners in 40 different categories at its annual award ceremony.

“We are thrilled to have won our first Appy Award. República is digital to the core and committed to finding innovative solutions for our clients needs,” said Jorge A. Plasencia, chairman and CEO. “Our winning work, the Miami Trolley app, has become a successful tool that facilitates navigation around one of the busiest metropolitan areas in our country.”

The Miami Trolley app was created as a tool for residents and visitors to find their way around the City of Miami. The app helps check the distance of the trolley from any stop; automatically maps out the closest routes and stops based on travelers current location; checks out all existing routes and service times; and allows travelers to set notifications, reminders, and favorite routes for a personalized user experience.
