Dolphins to Paint South Florida Orange in Celebration of 45th Season

Fans invited to free “Orange Offensive” community pep rallies and encouraged to wear orange throughout the week and on game day in support of the team. The iconic Miami Tower, Huizenga Plaza, City Place and Sun Life Stadium will all be illuminated in orange.

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins are encouraging all fans to wear orange and to celebrate the the 2010 home season with the “Orange Offensive,” a series of community pep rallies and the lighting of key landmarks throughout South Florida in the color orange, leading up to the team’s home opener against the New York Jets on Sunday, September 26th at Sun Life Stadium.

The events will take place from September 19 through September 25, where South Floridians are encouraged to wear orange clothing celebrating the home opener and in support of the Dolphins players who will be wearing orange jerseys on Sunday.

“We want to celebrate with the community our 45th season and home opener,” said Mike Dee, Dolphins CEO. “We invite all Dolphins fans to become part of the Orange Offensive this week and wear their orange gear to the pep rallies and to Sunday’s home opener as we come together in front of a national television audience for South Florida’s Biggest Party.”

As part of the Orange Offensive, several iconic landmarks throughout South Florida will be illuminated in orange. Starting on Monday, September 20th, the iconic Miami Tower in downtown Miami (formerly the Bank of America Tower), the fountain at Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale, CityPlace in West Palm Beach will all sport an orange glow to celebrate the start of the Dolphins’ 45th season. Sun Life Stadium will also have an orange glow starting on Thursday as the Orange Offensive makes its way to the stadium.

Two major pep rallies will take place in Ft. Lauderdale and Hialeah and the team will participate in various other events this week including the Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival.

Pep Rally Dates:
Thursday, September 23 — Bucky Dent Park — Hialeah — 5 p.m.
Friday, September 24 — Huizenga Plaza — Ft. Lauderdale — 4:30 p.m.

The pep rallies will include Dolphins alumni, cheerleaders, TD, the Dolphins mascot, and Fins Force. Those in attendance will enjoy music, interactive games, memorabilia, raffles, ticket giveaways and many prizes. The rallies are all free. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.

The Dolphins are collaborating with municipalities throughout South Florida to host these exciting fan gatherings. The celebrations at Bucky Dent Park, and Huizenga Plaza, are in alliance with the City of Hialeah, and the City of Ft. Lauderdale, respectively.

In addition, Downtown Boca hosts South Florida’s Biggest Away Game Party at Mizner Park during every Dolphins away game. Fans can enjoy autograph signings and photographs with Dolphins alumni, special performances and meet-and-greets with Dolphins cheerleaders, fun with TD and the Fins Force, live music and watch the game from special party areas. The Orange Offensive reaches its crescendo on Sunday, September 26th at Sun Life Stadium when the Dolphins face the New York Jets at 8:20 p.m. and the Dolphins players will be wearing their orange jerseys and fans will be receiving an orange rally towel, courtesy of Budweiser.  Fans are encouraged to wear orange to the game in support of the home team.  This game marks the fourth time the Dolphins’ players will wear orange jerseys.  They first wore the alternate jerseys during the 2003 season against the Washington Redskins.  Last season, the team wore their orange jerseys when they played the Jets.
