Dolphins to Light Up South Florida for 2010 Season

The Miami Dolphins are kicking off the 2010 season with a series of community pep rallies throughout South Florida leading up to the team’s home opener against the New York Jets on Sunday, September 26th at Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins “Orange Offensive” pep rallies and events will take place from September 19 through September 25, where South Floridians are encouraged to wear orange just like their home team will during the opener and celebrate the start of the 2010 Dolphins season.

“This is a milestone year for our fans and our organization as we begin our 45th season,” said Mike Dee, Dolphins CEO.  “We welcome all Dolphins fans to become part of the Orange Offensive and wear their orange gear at these pep rallies as we usher in the 2010 season.”

As part of the Orange Offensive, the Dolphins will also light up iconic locations in orange throughout South Florida.  The Miami Tower, the fountain at Huizenga Plaza, CityPlace, and even Sun Life Stadium itself will be bathed in orange light to remind Dolphins Fans to dress up in orange in support of their team.  The lightings will begin on Monday, September 20.

Four major pep rallies will take place as well as other celebratory events from Coral Gables to Boca Raton.

September 19 — Mizner Park — Boca Raton — Noon

September 23 — Bucky Dent Park — Hialeah — 5 p.m.

September 24 — Huizenga Plaza — Ft. Lauderdale — 4:30 p.m.

September 25 — Biltmore Way — Coral Gables — All day

Dolphins alumni, cheerleaders, TD and Fins Force will be on hand to rally the fans.  Those in attendance will also enjoy music, interactive games, memorabilia, raffles, ticket giveaways and prizes.  The rallies are free.  Food and beverage will be available for purchase.

The Mizner Park pep rally is part of a partnership with Downtown Boca, which hosts the official away game parties of the Miami Dolphins.  The celebrations at Bucky Dent Park and Huizenga Plaza are in alliance with the Cities of Hialeah and Ft. Lauderdale, respectively.  Coral Gables will welcome the Dolphins as part of their annual Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival.

The organization is also encouraging Dolphins fans to wear their orange attire on Sunday, September 26th in support of their home team.  This game marks the fourth time the Dolphins have worn their orange jerseys, which debuted in 2003 against the Washington Redskins.  To date, the Dolphins have won every game they have worn the orange jerseys for.
