Dell Introduces Spanish Laptop in Los Angeles to Increase Technology Access for U.S. Spanish-Speaking Consumers

Los Angeles, (June 7, 2011) –Dell today introduced the new Inspiron M5030, the first Spanish-language laptop available in the U.S., to Los Angeles consumers. After successfully introducing the Inspiron M5030 in Miami and Atlanta, Dell is prepared to fill the void of Spanish-language computing technology in Los Angeles, the number one Hispanic market in the U.S. The laptop, developed for Spanish-speaking consumers, is a continuation of Dell’s mission to provide affordable and pervasive technology. Priced at $499, the notebook offers the ultimate in mobility and entertainment and is built around Dell’s familiar Spanish Operating System (OS) and keyboard.

Dell’s expansion into Los Angeles is the next step of the company’s strategy to unveil the new technology, focusing on cities with the largest Hispanic populations. The announcement underscores Dell’s effort to provide the right technology solutions for each particular segment, no matter their location. Dell understands the importance of the emerging U.S. Hispanic market, and the value the family unit plays in this community. By designing a laptop that offers unrivaled entertainment technology, mobility and Spanish-language capabilities, Dell is providing new technology to Latino families and all those wishing to compute in Spanish.

With the Inspiron M5030 families can easily access and share music, movies and photos among relatives. Its 4GB memory allows quick and easy multi-tasking; web/email and apps, at high-speed downloads for importing and exporting photos and videos. The laptop’s 15’’ compact size ensures easy mobility, allowing the user to remain connected while on the move.

“We listened to our customers and realized there was a need to develop a laptop that was 100 percent designed for Spanish speakers, affordable and available in the United States,” said Phil Bryant, vice president of Dell’s North America Retail Sales. “We are proud to introduce a laptop that meets all of these needs and facilitates Spanish-speaking families to better communicate and keep in touch with relatives, share information and experience the ultimate in technology in their native language.”

To introduce the Inspiron M5030 in Los Angeles Dell chose electronics retailer La Curacao to offer the laptop at their stores in the Los Angeles area. “Our consumers are very important to us so we are honored to partner with Dell to be the first retailer offering this system on the West Coast,” said Rick Hutton, La Curacao’s President of Retail. “The Inspiron M5030W will give our consumers an affordable, family-friendly option for entertainment and mobility all in their preferred language.”
