The List: South Florida Fast 50
One of the South Florida Business Journal’s most interesting lists is the Fast 50. Not only do you get twice as much information as our usual Top 25 lists, but it also offers a variety of companies and industries, and is a bit of a success story for those represented. The list of the region’s 50 fastest-growing companies is ranked by one-year percentage growth.
The companies on the list come from all industries, including real estate development, manufacturing, technology, health care and retail. Most are private companies, but there are several public companies on the list, as well. The sizes of the companies on this list are also varied widely, with annual revenue ranging from $1 million to $19 billion, and have staffs with as few as five people to as many as 2,000.
But, these companies also have some important things in common: They’re all headquartered in South Florida, they’ve all been in business at least three years, and they all generated at least $1 million in revenue in 2010. Most importantly, they all showed significant revenue growth between 2009-2010. Each company on the list increased its revenue by more than 25 percent over the one-year period. More than half of them saw an increase of more than 50 percent, and the top five companies on the list had revenue jumps in the triple digits.
