República, a leading advertising and communications agency that represents the essence of the Latino cultural crossover in the United States, has been prominently positioned on the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll, an exclusive group of the nation’s companies ranked on the list for five consecutive years.
Inc. magazine’s list, compiled by this publication founded in 1979 and based in New York City, is the result of a comprehensive analysis that includes the country’s 5,000 companies that have achieved the fastest growth over a four-year period.
“The new reality found across cities like New York, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles, clearly illustrates the cultural crossover of Hispanics who—for generations—have lived between two cultures in this country
but have kept alive their cultural essence, unlike other Hispanic generations who fully assimilated into American culture,” said Jorge A. Plasencia, 41, co-founder, president and CEO of República.
According to Inc. magazine, only a tiny fraction of the nation’s companies have demonstrated such remarkably consistent high growth, particularly in the difficult economic environment of the past few years.
“This achievement truly puts República in rarefied company,” said Eric Schurenberg, president and editor-
in-chief Inc. magazine.
To be considered for the list, companies submit an application.
República has been behind the organization of important events – from Goya’s 75th anniversary festivities in 2011 to playing a strategic role in positioning Toyota at key shows throughout the country. Among them, Hispanicize, an event for which Toyota is the official sponsor. The agency also manages the branding of other top organizations, like the National Pork Board.
In 2016, República, headquartered on Coral Way in Miami, will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
“From day one, in 2006—the same year Twitter was founded—we’ve been a digital agency, making use of social networks,” said Plasencia.
Born in Miami to Cuban parents, Plasencia, who was corporate vice president and CEO of Univision Radio and previously served as vice president of Estefan Enterprises, Inc., among other positions, joined forces with Luis Casamayor who was then president of Cosmyk, a design agency he had started in 1994 as a
graphic design studio.
In 2014, LATISM (Latinos in Tech Innovation & Social Media) named República as the Best Agency Using Social Media to Reach Latinos.
“We owe our continued success to our enduring and valued client partnerships and our best-in-class talent who have fueled our growth, inspired our innovation, and made us better year after year,” said Plasencia about República being included once again in the coveted Inc. 5000 Honor Roll.
República’s growing client roster includes notable global, national and regional brands in various categories, including technology, health and wellness, pharmaceutical, automotive, consumer packaged goods, retail, travel, entertainment and luxury. Recognized for disrupting its industry, República centers on the U.S. general and multicultural markets, as well as Latin America.
According to magazine, the 2015 Inc. 5000 is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue is $205 billion, generating 647,000 jobs over the past three years.
In the past, well-known companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn and Zillow, among others, gained recognition after being included in the Inc. 5000 list. Complete results of the Inc. 5000 can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000.
