Global marketing giant Havas and Miami-based Republica join forces

Two marketing powerhouses – one locally based, one with a worldwide footprint – announced they are teaming up.

Havas Group announced Wednesday it has invested in Miami-based marketing firm Republica. Republica will be renamed Republica Havas and will stay in Miami.

Havas is a marketing juggernaut, employing 20,000 people in more than 100 countries, and Republica Chairman and CEO Jorge A. Plasencia said the pairing is an opportunity for the 12-year-old Republica to expand past South Florida into other markets such as Los Angeles and New York.

“We’ve reached where we could reach independently,” Plasencia said. “There’s no stopping where we can take Republica Havas now.”

Republica — the largest independent multicultural marketing firm by revenue — works with brands that include Walmart, Toyota, Google, Nielsen, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Freixenet USA, Azamara Club Cruises, NBCUniversal Telemundo, Universal Parks & Resorts, Miami Super Bowl 2020 and Goya Foods. Local clients include Baptist Health South Florida, Adrienne Arsht and BankUnited.

For Havas, Republica offers an opportunity for continued growth in Miami and Latin America, said Paul Marobella, chairman and CEO, Havas Creative, North America.

“We know growth is hard to come by in a brand perspective,” Marobella said. “It’s our responsibility to be able to have capabilities that stay on the cutting edge and help tap into growth opportunities for their companies.”

Plasencia and Republica President Luis Casamayor will stay on in their current roles, and Plasencia says his company’s presence in Miami is unwavering.

“Our commitment stays in Miami and we aren’t going anywhere,” he said.
