República Selects Strong Women, Strong Girls as Inaugural Recipient of Repúblicares Pro-Bono Initiative

MIAMI, December 04, 2012 – República, a cross-cultural advertising and communications agency, announced today that it selected Strong Women, Strong Girls (SWSG) as the inaugural recipient of the Repúblicares pro-bono initiative.

Repúblicares, an annual initiative founded to commemorate the agency’s fifth anniversary, was created to award pro-bono services to a deserving organization within the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico. To be considered, more than 20 nonprofits submitted online applications sharing their stories and their need for República’s services. Each República employee had one vote, and SWSG was selected from three finalists.

“Giving back has been inherent in our culture since day one, and Repúblicares brings together everything we stand for at República,” said Jorge A. Plasencia, República’s chairman and CEO. “Strong Women, Strong Girls has an extraordinary mission, and I am thrilled our employees selected such a top-notch organization.”

SWSG is a nationally recognized mentoring program dedicated to raising the aspirations and self-esteem of elementary-school girls. The program connects girls with college women, and puts them on the path from the classroom to the boardroom or another career path they choose to follow. The program provides services throughout the East Coast serving women and girls in Boston, Mass.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Miami, Fla., aiming to build a movement that creates cycles of mutual empowerment for women and girls committed to positive social change.

“Strong Women, Strong Girls is excited to be the inaugural Repúblicares partner. It is an incredible opportunity for a nonprofit organization of our size to access such experienced and extensive resources. In partnership with República, we will bring more attention to our work and continue to build a national and global movement to empower girls and women,” said Lynne Garfinkel, National Director of Development and Communications for Strong Women, Strong Girls.

SWSG will work with several branches of the agency including communications, branding and creative in order to meet the most immediate needs of the organization.
