She lived it as a refugee. Forty years later, she helped reimagine its legacy

Built in 1925, Miami’s Freedom Tower became a gateway to a new life for more than half a million Cuban refugees—including a young Inés Suárez.

Forty years later, for its centennial and reopening as a museum and cultural center, Inés turned her memories into the tower’s new visual identity, connecting her story and the landmark’s history with a new generation of Miami residents.
